Buying a Puppy
Buying any puppy should be a joyful experience as well as all of the generic advice that is available there are a few extra things to be aware of when buying a Clumber Spaniel (or any other minority breed).
With only around 200 Clumber Puppies born in the UK each year it means that the Gene Pool is quite limited this can lead to an increased risk of generic diseases being passed on. So its especially important to be aware of the health tests that the parents of the puppy should have.
-
PDP1
-
Hips and Elbows ( to assess the risk of displasia)
-
Eye Test (to asses the risk on eutropia and entropion)
-
EIC

Finding the right breeder is extremely important, you should expect to go on a list and have to wait for the right Puppy. Being rare, breeders tend to be extra fussy about who they will sell their precious puppies to so expect that they will want to get to know you and remain in contact.
